The Reality Check A thought-provoking story from Vietnam News highlights a sad truth: Plastic waste is piling up in Vietnam, driven by a “culture of convenience”. We produce nearly two million tonnes of plastic waste annually, and sadly, most of it is not recycled. Cheap, single-use plastic cups and bags are everywhere simply because they are “easy”.
But at what cost? The plastic straw you used for 10 minutes takes hundreds of years to decompose. It ends up in our rivers, on our beaches, and eventually, in our food chain. It is a high price to pay for a moment of convenience.
Go Green’s Challenge: We challenge YOU to break the habit! It’s not about being perfect; it’s about being conscious.
👉 3 Simple Swaps:
- Bring your own tumbler to the coffee shop (and look cool doing it!).
- Say “No straw, please” when ordering drinks.
- Carry a tote bag so you never need a plastic bag.
Let’s prove that Gen Z cares more about the future than convenience!
